Monday, 10 December 2007
Adviser for Foreign Affairs Dr Iftekhar Ahmed Chowdhury Sunday said, the signing of the service commitment agreement between Bangladesh and South Korea was an important event in promoting relations between the two countries, reports BSS.
Chowdhury, also in charge of the Ministry of Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment, said this after a meeting with President of Human Resources Development under the Labour Ministry of South Korea Kim Yong Dal at his office.
The agreement laid down the procedures for recruitment of Bangladeshis, he said, adding it was a follow-up of the MoU, signed between the two sides during his visit to Seoul in June last.
He also hoped that the process of recruitment of people from Bangladesh would soon begin with the signing of the agreement.
The Foreign Adviser said, if our people could perform well, Dhaka could expect a higher share out of 10,000 people that Seoul would recruit from four countries next year.
In this context, he said, the government had already been working on its seven-point strategy to increase export of the country's manpower.
On the other hand, Kim Yong Dal praises the Bangladeshis, working in his country, for their hard working character and trustworthiness.
Earlier, the service commitment agreement was signed between Kim Yong Dal and Bangladesh Overseas Employment and Services Ltd (BOESL) Managing Director Mahabubur Rahman.
Ministry of Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment Secretary Abdul Matin Chowdhury and Korean Ambassador Suk Bumpark, among others, were also present on the occasion.
