Seven-college students to form 'Adhyadesh Mancha' at Shahbagh

Students of seven government colleges in the capital announced on Saturday that they would form "Adhyadesh Mancha" (Ordinance Stage) at Shahbagh on Sunday (January 19) to press for their demand for issuance of the Dhaka Central University Ordinance-2025.
The information was disclosed in a message issued by Nayeem Hawlader, a representative of the student's movement.
The students have been pressing the government to issue the proposed draft "Dhaka Central University Ordinance 2025".
The draft ordinance was published through the Secondary and Higher Education Division under the Ministry of Education on September 24, 2025. Earlier the Ministry of Education held consultancy meeting with all the stakeholders following controversy over the draft.
The ministry has updated the draft after discussion with all the stakeholders.
The students observed their long march programme on 7 and 8 December 2025 for realising their demand.
They also held meeting with the representatives of the education ministry.
During the meeting, the students were assured that the government would issue "Dhaka Central University Ordinance-2025" during the first part of January 2026.
The students said that the "Dhaka Central University Ordinance-2025" was yet to be issued until today.
So they said that they would hold a mass rally at Science Lab Intersection in the capital at 11:00 am on Monday (tomorrow).
They said that if their demand is not realised then they would announce their next course of action from the Adhyadesh Mancha.
Earlier the students have blocked the roads at Science Lab Intersection, Technical Intersection and Tantibazar areas on January 14 and 15, 2026.
The message issued on Saturday also seeks advance apology to the city dwellers for inconveniences to the commuters due to probable traffic jams on Monday due to their planned programme.
They said they would go back to their reading table once the government issues the Dhaka Central University Ordinance-2025.
Earlier the students in the capital on Wednesday (January 14, 2026) students blocked roads at different locations demanding the implementation of the proposed Dhaka Central University.
