Seven die in five road accidents

CHITTAGONG, Jan 27 (BSS): Three people were killed in two separate road accident in the district on Saturday.
The victim was identified as motorcyclists Mahbubul Alam, 45, son of Mohammad Sharif, Mozemmel Haque, 32, son of Sirajul Haque, both hailed from Agrabad area in the city.
The other deceased was Saidul Haque, 61, hailed from Akbar Shah Thana in the city.
Patiya Thana police said an accident occurred when a passenger bus hit a motorcycle from behind at Khogozi Para in the area at about 10 am leaving the two motorcycle riders dead on the spot.
Besides, Saidul Haque received head injury after being knocked down by a bus when he was crossing road in Akbarshah area in the city around 11 am.
He was rushed to CMCH where on-duty doctors declared him dead.
Two separate cases were filed with respective police stations in this connection.
Meanwhile, UNB adds: In Moulvibazar, a woman and her minor boy were killed following a head-on collision between a tractor and CNG-run auto-rickshaw at Arjuna in Barlekha upazila on Friday night.
The accident took place around 9:30pm as the tractor collided with the auto-rickshaw, leaving the auto-rickshaw passenger Kalpona Begum, 30, a resident of Chandarpur village, and her five-year-old son Mahfuzur Rahman critically injured, said Shahidur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Barlekha Police Station.
Later, the injured were taken to Beanibazar Health Complex where doctors declared the duo dead.
In Manikganj, an examinee of upcoming Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examination was killed in a road accident in Utholi Bus Stand area on Dhaka-Aricha Highway in Shivalaya upazila on Friday noon.
The deceased, Shakil Khan, 15, son of Moinal Khan of Nekerkandi village of Ghior upazila, was the SSC candidate of Nekerkanti VRM High School.
A bus hit Shakil while he was crossing the road to go to home from his coaching centre at noon, leaving him dead on the spot, said Yeasmin Dola, officer-in-charge of Borongail Highway Police Station.
In Jessore a women was killed in a road accident in Khajura area of Sharsha upazila on Friday noon.
The deceased was identified as Kamrunnahar Haowa, 40, daughter of late Abdur Rahman, a resident of Tebaria village of the upazila and an activist of Susomaj Foundation.
Politon Mia, officer-in-charge of Navaron Highway Police Outpost, said a motorcycle hit Kamrunnahar while she was crossing the road, leaving her critically injured.
Later, local rushed her to Sharsha Upazila Health Complex where doctors declared her dead.
