At least five people were injured as gas accumulated in a sewerage line of a multi-storey building went off in the city’s Kalyanpur area on Tuesday. The gas explosion took place with a big bang in front of 12-storey Mizan Tower around 7 pm, leaving 4-5 pedestrians injured, Abdul Alim, senior station officer of Mohammadpur Fire Station, told UNB. The injured received first aid at a nearby hospital. Following the explosion, the panic-stricken residents stormed out of the high-rise building. Later, Golam Mostafa, one of the directors of Rajdhani Unnayan Kartipakkha (Rajuk) visited the spot. He, however, found nothing to be panicked in the incident, but asked the building dwellers to remain out of it for safety reasons until further notice, according to a news agency.
