SFD likely to approve $67.33mn for Teesta bridge

The Saudi Fund for Development (SFD) is likely to approve $67.33 million for Bangladesh in June this year for a proposed 1490-metre long PC girder bridge over the Teesta River at Sundarganj upazila in Gaibandha district. The bridge is expected to benefit people living specially in Gaibandha, Kurigram and Lalmonirhat districts. “The SFD may approve the funding for this bridge project in its Board meeting in this June,” Joint Secretary of the Economic Relations Division (ERD) Md Salim Reza said. He said a SFD appraisal mission, led by Abdullah Al Shedokhi, visited the country from March 1-5 last and reviewed the progress of the SFD-funded projects in Bangladesh. The mission also visited the proposed site of the bridge and expressed their satisfaction, according to UNB.
