Shafiq takes lead in Amrito LD Int\\\'l Rating Chess

Shafiq Ahmed of Titas Club took lead in the points table of the 10th Amrito Lal Dey International Rating Chess Tournament after seventh round games at Abdul Khaleq Pathagar in Barisal Thursday, reports UNB.
Shafiq earned six points from seventh round matches to secure the top slot while FM Mehdi Hasan Parag of Leonien Chess Club slipped from top to joint second with his teammate FM Debaraj Chatterjee, FM Sheikh Nasir Ahmed (Navy) and FM Khandakar Aminul Islam (Navy), securing 5.5 points each from their seven round.
Mohammed Enayet Hossain (Fire Service), WIM Rani Hamid, Mohammad Sagar (Navy) and Suvradeepta Das (India) shared the third place bagging 5 points apiece.
In the 7th round, Shafiq beat Parag, Nasir defeated Chanchal Kumer Ghosh, Debaraj outplayed Abdul Momin, Amin beat Dewan Shahidul Amin, Suvradeepta rout Sawkat Hossain Pollab, Rani Hamid defeated Saiful Islam Chowdhury, Enayet beat Akil Hossain and Sagar beat Aminul Islam.
The ninth and final round will be held at the same venue today (Friday).
