Shafique seeks int'l support in holding trial of crimes against humanity

Wednesday, 15 December 2010

Law Minister Barrister Shafique Ahmed has appealed to the international community to provide all-out support to Bangladesh in holding the trial of crimes against humanity.
"The present government is committed to putting the war criminals on trial… also to establish rule of law in the country," he said.
The minister was speaking at the International Criminal Court (ICC) legal tools project presentation programme at the Liberation War Museum in the city Tuesday, reports UNB.
International Crimes Tribunal in collaboration with the Liberation War Museum organised the programme.
State Minister for Law Advocate Quamrul Islam, Norwegian Ambassador in Bangladesh Ragne Birte Lund and Museum Trustee Mofidul Haq attended the function.
Recalling the barbaric killings by the collaborators during the liberation war in 1971, Mr Shafique said there should not be any opposition, nor any question against the trial. "All should provide support to the trial of crimes against humanity."
