Shafiullah new chief of Sector Commanders Forum

The Sector Commanders Forum (SCF) has accepted the resignation of its chairman AK Khandker and nominated former sector commander KM Shafiullah to the post. A meeting of the executive committee of the forum of 1971 war veterans took the decisions, forum executive member Tushar Amin said, according to bdnews24.com. The disclosure was made after the meeting of the SCF held at its Dhanmondi office on Friday afternoon. Maj Gen (Retd) KM Shafiullah was the Commander of Bangladesh Forces in Sector-3 during the country’s independence struggle in 1971 while Air Vice Marshal (Retd) AK Khandker was the Deputy Chief Commander of the liberation war. On September 17, AK Khandaker, also former planning minister, resigned as Chairman of SCF. Besides, he withdrew his membership from three other organisations. Recently, he made ‘derogatory remark’ on Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in his latest book ‘1971: Bhitore Baire’ (1971: Ins and Outs).
