Shahjibazar Power Plant goes into operation next month likely
FE Report | Wednesday, 27 August 2008
After successful completion of the 50-MW Kumargaon Power Plant, Energy Prima is going to start the operation of Shahjibazar 50 MW Rental Power Plant next month.
Sources from BPDB and Power Division also confirmed that the power plant will go into partial production in the first week of September and full capacity generation by middle of the same month.
Despite being ready to go into commercial operation, the work could not be completed in August this year due to four unwanted incidents.
BPDB source confirms that due to clash between the on-duty Ansars and some workers on June 21, the project work remained stopped for 20 days.
Although the works resumed after the incident, it was stopped for another seven days due to heavy monsoon rain.
In order to start the plant in time, Energy Prima airlifted the 132 Kva CTPT to Dhaka, but due to non receipt of clearance from BPDB, it took EPL 34 days to clear the CTPT from customs.
While going for final test run during the current month, it was detected that there was a coating of rust in the turbine due to a good quantity of water in 10 nos. of Engines.
ABB inspected these engines and took the initiative to clean them.
