Shahriar goes to Benin today

State Minister for Foreign Affairs M Shahriar Alam leaves Dhaka for Benin, a west African country, on Sunday afternoon to attend a 4-day ministerial conference. The conference titled ‘New Partnerships for the Development of Productive Capacities in LDCs’ will be held in Cotonou, the largest city and economic hub of Benin, on July 28-31. Shahriar will lead a 4-member Bangladesh delegation to the conference that include Bangladesh Permanent Representative to the United Nations (UN) Dr AK Abdul Momen. The conference will identify new and innovative partnerships to support efforts of the LDCs to strengthen their productive capacity, which is the first priority area of the IPoA. It will also focus on appropriate means of implementation. Some issues, like gender and women empowerment, employment and sustainable development, will be cross-cutting, according to UNB.
