Shahriar joins Turkish Presidential handover ceremony

Newly-elected Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has taken over the charge of the Presidency from outgoing President Abdullah Gul. The handover ceremony took place in the Presidential Palace in Ankara on Thursday, according to message received in Dhaka on Friday. The ceremony was witnessed by dignitaries from more than 90 countries including heads of state and government, speakers of parliament, ministers and heads of the international organisations. Bangladesh’s State Minister for Foreign Affairs Md Shahriar Alam represented the Bangladesh government to the Presidential handover ceremony of Turkey. Erdogan, ex-Turkish premier, was elected president in the first-ever popular presidential vote held on August 10, 2014, according to BSS.
