State minister for foreign affairs Shahriar Alam requested Turkish EXIM Bank to reduce the rate of interest on the US $ 300 million annual Line of Credit, which would be utilised by the private sector ventures in Bangladesh. During a meeting with the top executives of TURK EXIM Bank in Ankara on August 27, Shahriar Alam discussed in details the ways and means to utilise the $300m annual Line of Credit. ‘The credit line could be used for infrastructure projects in Bangladesh as well as for financing Turkish exports to Bangladesh,’ he said. TURK EXIM Bank officials informed that they will send a high-level delegation to Bangladesh in October to discuss further and find the means for early utilisation of the credit line. Highlighting the incentive package Bangladesh is offering for foreign investors, Shahriar Alam invited potential Turkish investors to take the advantage of the favourable business environment of Bangladesh, according to BSS.
