Shipping Minister Shajahan Khan said Wednesday that no irregularities in launches or ferryghats during the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr would be tolerated, reports BSS.
"Mobile court will be deployed at Sadarghat during the Eid to check irregularities. Besides, law enforcement agencies will patrol the Sadarghat terminal area before and after the Eid. But, owners of the launches have to take punitive measures against the people involved in black marketing of tickets," he added.
The minister passed the remarks while inaugurating a newly built launch MV Mitalee-4 at Sadarghat, which will ply Dhaka-Chandpur-Ichli route.
Mr Khan urged the people not to board any overcrowded launch as such a vessel may fall in accident at anytime.
The minister also requested the launch owners for not carrying additional passengers to make more profit. BIWTA Member (operation) Bhola Nath Dey, Director (port) Abul Bashar and Joint Director Saiful Islam Khan were also present on the occasion. Managing director of MV Mitalee-4 presided over the programme.
