Shakib deserves a second chance

We agree that punishment of Shakib Al Hasan was necessary as he was breaching rules and discipline regularly. Even then the penalty given to him is severe and  might affect his future career.
We should not forget that Shakib is a prime asset of Bangladeshi cricket. He has given us many memorable occasions to be proud of. There is no question he is an unofficial sports icon of Bangladesh.
Banning him for six months from all types of cricket is very harsh and I hope he will be given some leniency. We understand Shakib too has got the message that no one is above rule and discipline. In our society, we see a bad tendency of breaking rules and it is seen as a sign of power. We have to change such mindset.
Despite all these, I believe that Shakib deserves another chance and we must consider it. The cricket hero should also remember that his words and actions are followed by the young people and hence he should not set any bad precedence. I request the Bangladesh Cricket Board to reconsider the punishment awarded to him keeping in mind his immense contribution towards Bangladeshi cricket which will be poorer without him.
