Wednesday, 15 July 2015

World number one all rounder in all three formats of cricket Shakib Al Hasan is now the 7th cricketer to score 4000 runs and take 200 wickets in ODI format. Shakib entered the elite club along with Sanath Jayasuriya (Sri Lanka), Shahid Afridi, Abdul Razzaq (Pakistan), Jacques Kallis (South Africa), Chris Harris and Chris Cairns (New Zealand). The celebrated all rounder cum vice captain of Bangladesh’s ODI team also became the second cricketer of the country after Abdur Razzak to grab 200 wickets. Razzak is the highest wicket taker for Bangladesh with 207 wickets in his bag. Shakib started the ongoing ODI series against the visiting team with 198 wickets and reached the milestone dismissing Faf du Plessis and South Africa’s skipper Hashim Amla in the rain-hit and series deciding 3rd match of the three-match ODI series at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong on Wednesday. He sent back South Africa skipper Hashim Amla in the third ball of the 13th over, caught by Mushfiqur Rahim. Amla tried to drive the delivery which drifted in and then turned away only to touch the edge of his bat and then find Mushfiq’s gloves. This was the second wicket for Shakib in the match. Earlier, he sent back South Africa batsman Faf du Plessis in a similar fashion on the first ball of the 7th over to make Plessis his 199th wicket in ODI. The remarkable success for Shakib came in his 156th ODI matches conceding 5685 runs with an average of 28.42 with best figure of 4 for 16. Shakib scored 4382 runs in 156 matches with an average of 35.33, involving six centuries and 30 half centuries with the best figure 134 runs. Among the members of this elite club, Shakib’s batting average is the 2nd highest after South Africa’s Jacques Kallis, according to a news agency.
