Sunday, 19 March 2023

Bangladesh's star all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has completed 7000 runs in ODIs, report agencies.
He achieved the milestone during the first ODI of the three-match series against Ireland at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium in Sylhet on Saturday, when he scored 24 runs.
Shakib took 228 matches and 216 innings to score 7000 runs in ODIs, becoming the second Bangladeshi batsman after Tamim Iqbal to reach this feat.
During his ODI career, Shakib has scored nine centuries and 52 half-centuries, and has also taken 300 wickets in the same format.
In addition, Shakib became the third cricketer in ODIs to reach 7000 runs and 300 wickets. He joined Sanath Jayasuriya and Shahid Afridi in the list when he reached 24 runs in the first ODI against Ireland in Sylhet. He is the second-highest run-scorer in the format for Bangladesh behind Tamim Iqbal, who has 8146 runs.
In the 20th over of the Bangladesh innings, Shakib took a single off Curtis Campher to reach the landmark.
During Bangladesh's previous ODI, against England earlier this month, Shakib reached 300 wickets with his four-wicket haul. He got to the landmark with the wicket of Rehan Ahmed in the third ODI in Chattogram. It made him the third left-arm spinner, after Jayasuriya and Daniel Vettori, to reach the milestone.
Shakib is also Bangladesh's highest wicket-taker in Tests and T20Is with 231 and 128 wickets respectively. Shakib is also currently the fifth-highest wicket-taker in T20s with 443 wickets. He is one of only two players - Dwayne Bravo being the other one - to have achieved the feat of 6000 runs, 400 wickets and 50 catches in T20s.
