The International Cricket Council (ICC) has issued its fresh ranking in which Bangladesh’s Shakib Al Hasan ceded his number-two position for ODI all-rounders to Sri Lankan skipper Angelo Mathews. In the new ranking published after the Asia Cup, the Bangladesh all-rounder moved a placed down to number three. Shakib’s rating point is 368, five adrift of Mathews. Pakistan allrounder Mohammad Hafeez still occupies the number one spot on the list. Shakib did not play the first two Bangladesh matches in the Asia Cup due to his ban for ‘crotch grab’ on live TV. In the next two matches he scored 64 runs and picked up a wicket. On the other hand, Mathews led Sri Lanka to Asia Cup glory from the front. He picked up one wicket but gathered 196 runs. He was unbeaten in all five matches of the Asia Cup, including the final; as a result, his average in the competition is phenomenal 196. In the batsmen’s ranking, India’s Virat Kohli leads the slot, having pushing down AB De Villiers who had entered the Asia Cup, trailing number one ranked the South African by two ratings points. The bowlers’ top spot remained unchanged with the Pakistan spinner Saeed Ajmal leading the pack. Shakib has also slipped out of the top 20 bowlers. He moved a spot down to 21st position. Abdur Razzak, the Tigers’ experienced left-arm spinner, has also been demoted – moving four spots down to number 17, according to bdnews24.com.
