All the speculation regarding Lutfur Rahman Badal, Shakib Al Hasan and Tamim Iqbal came to end when all three joined the 110 years old Victoria Sporting Club (VSC) Thursday, reports BSS.
VSC arranged a press meet at a city hotel Thursday to provide all details of their signing of cricket players for the 2011-2012 season.
Lutfur Rahman Badal, who was the top boss of cricket committee of Mohammedan Sporting Club was the focal point of the media for the last one week as his strain relationship with MSC came into surface when Mohammedan cricket overlooked him to sign Naeem Iqbal and Imrul Kayes for the new cricket season.
It was known to everyone that Shakib and Tamim has agreement with Badal that they would play for any team where Badal will be at command. So Victoria's senior officials made no mistake as they approached Badal to join the Victoria club as the chairman of the Governing Body who accepted the proposal with open arm.
Former National Captain Shakib Al hasan was introduced as the captain of the Victoria SC. Dashing left handed opener Tamim Iqbal also followed his friend to sign in favour of Victoria.
Badal taking to media made it clear, " I was always a supporter of Mohammedan will always pray for the success of the club but since I was overlooked while forming the cricket team for 2011-2012 season I had no option but to try my luck for another Club. As you know, these two talented players who have already assured me of playing where I say were left without a team. Earlier in the week MSC completed their pool quota. Thanks to Victoria for offering me a place in their rank and I now had the opportunity to draft these players here along with other my likeminded friends and players."
Shakib will be the skipper of Victoria cricket team, Tamim Iqbal, Mosharraf Hossain Rubel, Al Amin Hossain and Saikat Ali would be joined by Pakistani Shoaib Malik, Wahab Riaz, Ahmed Shehzad and Indian star Manoj Tiwari (three foreign players can play in one match). I also had a talk with Chris Gayle who is playing in Big bash in Australia that if he gets an opportunity he would be coming here to play for us. We have also approached Brian Lara to provide one month coaching program for our players said new chairman of VSC Badal.
Shakib said, " It would be a big challenge for him and Victoria but definitely our goal would be to win the championship. But as you know this most of the teams have spend fortune to strengthen their squad. So there will be a big competition among numbers of teams and our efforts would to be part of the upper half of the points table.
