Shakil, Farzana on four-day remand

Journalist Shakil Ahmed, former head of news at the private channel Ekattor TV, and his wife Farzana Rupa, former principal correspondent at the same channel, have been placed on four-day remand. They were dismissed from their positions on August 8.
Judge of the Metropolitan Magistrate Court in Dhaka, Ahmed Humayun Kabir, passed the order on Thursday after hearing a remand prayer, filed by police in connection with a murder case.
Earlier, on the day, Mohaiminur Rahman, investigation officer of the case and a sub-inspector of Uttara East Police Station, produced the journalist couple before the court with a 10-day remand prayer. Upon hearing, the court granted a four-day remand for them.
