Shakil Rizvi re-elected DSE president

Mr Shakil Rizvi has been reelected unanimously president of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) for the next one year. Shakil Rizvi, managing director of Shakil Rizvi Stock Limited, was reelected at the helm of the bourse by the board of directors of the DSE in the city Wednesday. The 49th annual general meeting (AGM) of DSE was also held on the day. The DSE board of directors also elected Mr Ahasanul Islam Titu, managing director of Mona Financial and Securities, senior vice president and Mohammad Shahjahan, managing director of Jahan Securities, vice president. The DSE board of directors inducted four new directors into the board. The elected directors are -Ahmad Rashid Lali, former DSE senior vice president and managing director of Rashid Investment Service, Azizur Rahman, managing director of Globe Securities, Ahsanul Islam Titu of Mona Financial and Securities, Mizanur Rahman Khan, managing director of Dhanmondi Securities. Earlier, on March 13, four directors-Ahmad Rashid Lali, Ahsanul Islam Titu, Mizanur Rahman Khan and Azizur Rahman-were elected by the DSE members. As per Article 81 of DSE Constitution, four directors resign voluntarily to pave the way for electing four new policy-makers every year in the 12-member board of directors. Out of 24 members of the managing committee of DSE, 12 will be elected through direct voting and the rest will be selected by the elected members. Elected directors, then, elect a president, a senior vice-president and a vice-president. The AGM, attended by a large number of DSE members, reviewed the present market situation and urged the investors to make their investment considering the fundamentals of the companies. The AGM also passed the financial report for the year 2009-2010.
