Shamarukh\\\'s body exhumation deferred

Wednesday, 3 December 2014

Exhumation of Dr Shamarukh Mahjabin Shama’s body for re-autopsy has been deferred by a day. Jessore Superintendent of Police Anisur Rahman said that the formalities could not be completed by Tuesday because of unavoidable reasons and the exhumation would now take place on Thursday. Then the second autopsy would be done, he added. Officials of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) would be present during the exhumation. CID ASP Munshi Ruhul Kuddus said: ‘I’ll arrive in Jessore on Wednesday afternoon to collect the necessary evidence for a re-autopsy of Shamarukh’s body.’ Police Headquarters in an order on Saturday shifted the responsibility to investigate the doctor’s death to CID. Kuddus has been made the investigation officer. Shamarukh was declared dead in Dhaka’s Central Hospital on November 13 after being taken there from her in-law’s Dhanmondi residence, where she had been found hanging. Her father Nurul Islam filed a case accusing her husband Humayun Sultan Shadab, father-in-law Tipu Sultan, a former MP,  and mother-in-law Jasmine Ara Begum of killing her, according to bdnews24.com.
