Thursday, 4 December 2014

The body of Dr Shamarukh Mahjabin Shama, daughter-in-law of former lawmaker Khan Tipu Sultan, was dug out from her grave in Jessore town on Thursday for a re-autopsy. Authorities exhumed the body around 10:30am in presence of Executive Magistrate Abdus Salam and the investigating officer of the case Dhaka’s Ramna Zone ASP Munshi Ruhul Quddus in the district headquarters’ Karbala graveyard. The body was then sent to Jessore Medical College Hospital for autopsy. Shamarukh was declared dead on November 13 after being taken to Dhaka’s Central Hospital from the Dhanmondi residence of Khan Tipu Sultan, the ruling party’s ex-MP from Jessore-4. Shamarukh’s in-laws claimed she had committed suicide but her family blamed her husband Humayun Sultan Shadab, son of Khan Tipu Sultan, and his parents, for the death. Shamarukh’s father Nurul Islam filed a case accusing Humayun Sultan Shadab, father-in-law Tipu Sultan and mother-in-law Jasmine Ara Begum, of killing her, according to a news agency.
