Tuesday, 1 November 2011

NARAYANGANJ, Oct 31 (UNB): In a surprise move unusual for the present-day politicos, Shamim Osman today retracted his allegations of vote rigging and biased administration during Sunday's Narayanganj City polls and said polling was fair, neutral. Conceding the defeat at a press conference at his Hiramon residence in the city this afternoon Shamim Osman congratulated Mayor-elect Dr Selina Hayat Ivy, extended total support to her and pledged to work together for development of the newly upgraded city and welfare of the city dwellers. Shamim Osman who comes from Awami League's old guards Zoha family of Narayanganj, was missably defeated in the mayoral election by his party comrade Selina Hayat Ivy despite enjoying blessings of the party high command. Terming newly elected Mayor Ivy as his 'younger sister' he congratulated her for her victory. He hoped that all would work unitedly to fulfill the election pledges made ahead of the polls.
