Shammi Akter freed from jail

Former BNP MP Shammi Akter has walked out of the prison on bail. She is accused in a case filed over vandalism and arson during the BNP-led 18-Party alliance’s transport blockade.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court Wednesday granted her bail in the case filed with Banani police.
Akter was released from the Kashimpur Women’s Central Jail in Gazipur in the evening.
Senior Superintendent of the jail Md Jahangir Kabir said they had received Akter’s bail documents in the afternoon. She was freed in the evening, according to a news agency.
