Tuesday, 18 October 2011

Former Home Minister and Awami League leader Mohammad Nasim today said BNP Vice-Chairman and former diplomat Shamsher Mobin Chowdhury had played a vital role in rehabilitating the killers of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman after August 15, 1975, reports BSS. "Shamsher Mobin Chowdhury had also requested the US State Department during the last caretaker government to refrain Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina from returning home," he said. Mohammad Nasim said this while taking part in a discussion organised by Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote at Public Library auditorium here marking the birth anniversary of Sheikh Russel, who was killed on August 15, 1975 with his father Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and most of his family members. He said the BNP Chief and Leader of the Opposition Begum Khaleda Zia is now surrounded by those who violated human rights in the country on many occasions. Referring to the caretaker government system, he said Bangladesh Awami League has been talking against the system due to failure of some previous non-party caretaker governments, which were later declared illegal by the High Court. He demanded trial of chiefs of past caretaker governments Justice Latifur Rahman and Dr Fakhruddin Ahmed for their failure in discharging their duties properly.
