Share prices on DSE fall due to profit-taking

Share prices on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) Wednesday declined after two-days' of surge due to profit taking by the investors.
Trust Bank shares, which triggered the two-day rally declined 10.03 per cent to Tk 822.50 on the day and led the investors to book their profit.
Market operators said the prices of the shares on DSE also witnessed a bearish trend as selling pressure mounted ahead of the Eid festival pulling down the total turnover below Tk 2.0 billion-mark..
"Investors sold their stocks to celebrate the Eid-ul-Fitr festival in the country and it is an annual trend of the stock market," a DSE source said.
All the market barometres, total turnover and the total market capitalisation declined on the day.
DSE General Index (DGEN), DSE-20 Index (DS20) and All Shares Price Index (DSI) shed 5.791 points, 11.058 points and 3.326 points to close at 2641.721, 2021.235 and 2188.400 respectively.
The total turnover dropped to Tk 1.865 billion from its previous Tk 2.096 billion. The total market capitalisation also marginally declined to Tk 631.076 billion from Tk 631.86 billion on the previous day Tuesday.
Out of 212 traded issues, prices of 93 gained, 106 declined and 13 remained unchanged.
Trust Bank maintained its position as the turnover leader with traded shares worth Tk 168.240 million followed by AB Bank Tk 161.069 million, AIMS Tk 123.087 million, BRAC Bank Tk 83.825 million, UCBL 74.573 million, Heidelberg Cement 67.034 million, Grameen One Tk 66.298 million, LankaBangla Finance Tk 52.914 million, Summit Power Tk 52.201 million and Phoenix Finance Tk 51.689 million.
AB Bank gained 7.07 per cent to Tk 2816.75, AIMS 2.86 per cent to Tk 8.98, UCBL 2.80 per cent to Tk 4598.50, Heidelberg Cement 1.13 per cent to Tk 1319.25, LankaBangla Finance 0.58 per cent to Tk 86.10, Summit Power 0.39 per cent to Tk 1446.25, Phoenix Finance 1.55 per cent to Tk 440.00.
BRAC Bank declined 0.78 per cent to Tk 1298.75 and Grameen One 2.69 per cent to Tk 64.90.
