Sheikh Lutfar Rahman Bridge opens to vehicular movement

GOPALGANJ, Sept 17: Construction work of Sheikh Lutfar Rahman Bridge (Pathgati Bridge) on Gopalganj-Pirojpur Highway over Madhumati River at Tungipara in Gopalganj has been completed. Recently it has also been opened for vehicle movement.
According to RHD, Gopalganj, the construction work of Sheikh Lutfar Rahman Bridge over Madhumati River was taken up in the year of 2009 at a cost of Tk 726.567 million.
Earlier Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the foundation stone of the bridge on December 23, 2000 initiated by the Awami League (AL) led regime. It is mentioned that in the years between 2002 to 2008 the work of the bridge was totally stopped during the BNP-led regime.
RP Construction Private Limited, a construction company, took the responsibility of the construction work of the bridge under the supervision of Roads & Highways Department (RHD), Gopalganj.
Samiran Roy, Executive Engineer, RHD, Gopalganj told the F.E. Wednesday Prime Minister (PM) Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the bridge  in a video conference on January 24, 2015.
