Sheikh Moni Memorial Int\\\'l Chess begins tomorrow

Shaheed Sheikh Moni Memorial International Rating Chess Tournament kicks off at 2:00 pm tomorrow (Sunday) at the lounge of the National Sports Council auditorium in the city, reports UNB.
Barrister Fazle Noor Taposh, MP, inaugurated the six-day tournament as the chief guest Saturday at Kathalbagan Khan Hasan Primary School while Golden Chess Club President Mohammad Amir Ali presided over the function.
About hundred players, including Grandmasters, International Masters, Woman International Masters, FIDE Masters and rated players of Bangladesh, India and Nepal, will take part in the nine-round Swiss-League system event.
The winners of the tournament will receive some of TK 170000 cash as prize money.
FIDE Asian Zone 3.2 president Rajesh Hari Joshi, Bangladesh Chess Federation vice-president K M Shahidullah, general secretary Gazi Shayiful Tarique, GM Ziaur Rahman and IWM Rani Hamid were also present on the occasion.
