New soccer powerhouse Sheikh Russell KC beat Farashganj SC by 2-0 goals in a match of the Citycell Bangladesh League at the Bangabandhu National Stadium (BNS) in the city Sunday, reports UNB.
With this result, Sheikh Russell KC secured 43 points, nine points behind league leaders Abahani Limited and five points behind Mohammedan SC, while Farashganj SC remained at 17 points, both playing 18 matches.
After a barren first half, Salah and Rajan scored one goal each for the winners in the 53rd and 79th minutes respectively.
In another match, Muktijoddha Sangsad KC edged past Feni Soccer Club by a solitary goal at the Feni Stadium Sunday.
Kanchan scored the all-important goal for the winners in the 75th minute.
With the day's victory, Muktijoddha SKC secured 17 points while Feni Soccer Club remained at 21 points, both playing 17 matches.
