Sheikh Russell take on Farashganj in final today

Sheikh Russell KC will take on Farashganj SC in the final match of the Independence Cup Football Tournament today (Sunday) at 5:00 pm at the country's premier sports venue - Bangabandhu National Stadium in the city, reports UNB.
This is for the first time that two new teams will play in the final of a major soccer tournament of the country, overshadowing long time supremacy of Abahani Limited and Mohammedan SC.
State-owned Bangladesh Television (BTV) will telecast the match live while Bangladesh Beter will broadcast the running commentary of the final.
State Minister for Liberation War Affairs Capt (retd) Tajul Islam will be the chief guest in the final and will distribute the trophies.
Sheikh Russell KC reached the final of a major soccer tournament for the first time since its inception in 1995, eliminating Mohammedan SC by a solitary goal in the semifinal Friday.
Traditional old Dhaka outfit Farashganj SC, which emerged as the giant killer beating Abahani Limited in the quarterfinal, booked the final berth for the first time in domestic football history stunning national star-studded Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club by 1-0 goal Thursday.
Rates of ticket for the final: Gallery - Tk 20 and VIP enclosure - Tk 50. The stadium gates will open at 3:00 pm.
