Sheltech fair response good, says Seraj

Tuesday, 15 March 2011

Middle-income group rushed to Sheltech spring fair 2011 to snap up plots in Dhaka's adjacent areas, considering it to be "safe" and "profitable" investment. "Our response is beyond our expectation. And it is the middle-income people who are very much interested," Sheltech managing director Toufiq M Seraj said. "The 12-day fair is being organised to celebrate our 23rd anniversary. We're really overwhelmed," he told the FE. Sheltech Pvt Ltd, a leading real estate company, organised the fair at its corporate office at West Panthapath in the city from March 1 to March 12. He said, "Investment in land is very profitable as price of land increases within a short period. The price of apartments is becoming much higher day by day. Besides, inside the capital there is a huge scarcity of power and gas. So people might be interested to buy plot at the adjacent area of Dhaka and avoid the scarcity." He said the company had a target to sell around 30 to 40 units, but buyers bought 50 units during the fair. Sheltech officials said around 300 to 500 visitors visited the fair regularly, despite the ongoing Cricket World Cup matches. The company offered different flats at Mohammadpur, Paribagh, Mirpur, Banani, Uttara and Gandaria and also offered some plots at Ashulia and Savar. Mr. Seraj said that the company will continue all the facilities like discount between Tk 50,000 and Tk 500,000, instant transport facilities to site visit, and long term installment facilities till March 31. He added around 50 clients have shown interest in 'Sheltech Bithika' project, which will have furnished apartments for mid and fixed income group people at Mirpur Mazar road in the city. "We will build 186 apartments where the clients will get flats of 1270 square feet to 1490 square feet," he added. - FE Report
