Shibir cadre held with firearm in Rajshahi

RAJSHAHI, Feb 23 (BSS): Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested a listed cadre of Islami Chhatra Shibir, student-wing of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, with a firearm and ammunitions in the city last night, RAB sources here said Monday.
The arrested person was identified as Hasibul Islam (21), who was wanted in 12 criminal cases pending with different police stations.
On a tip-off, a team of the elite force conducted a sudden raid at Mirjapur area under Motiher Police Station in midnight and arrested Hasibul Islam. The operation team seized a revolver, one round of bullet and four crude bombs from his possession.
The RAB sources said the arrested person was involved in various anarchic and subversive activities at the area for long.
He is being interrogated to bring his cohorts to book and recover their firearms and ammunitions now being used in subversive activities, said Mirja Golam Sarwar, Senior ASP of RAB-5.
