Shibir man sustains bullet wounds in Satkhira

A local activist of Islami Chhatra Shibir sustained bullet injuries in police firing during a clash at Khettarapara village in Kalaroa upazila on Wednesday. The injured was identified as Humayun Kabir, 22, son of Ayub Ali of the village. On information that a group of Shibir men was holding a clandestine meeting in a river bank of the village, a police team conducted a drive there around 1pm, said sub-inspector Sabur Ahmed of Kalaroa Police Station. Sensing the presence of the law enforcers, the Shibir activists started hurling crude bombs and brickbats at them, prompting police to retaliate. Police fired seven gunshots, leaving Humayun bullet wounded. Police said Humayun is an accused in the local Jubo League leader Mehedi Hassan Jaz Miah murder case, according to UNB.
