Shibir planned bomb attacks in Ctg, police say

Leaders and activists of Islami Chhatra Shibir, student wing of Jamaat-e-Islami, planned series bomb attacks on the port City, Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) say. The CMP officials said eight Shibir leaders and workers, arrested on Friday afternoon from the port city’s Chawkbazar DC Road, divulged the plan during interrogation. They said two Shibir activists – ‘Sayeed’ and ‘Fahim’ – were caught in front of a school after the Juma prayers on a tip-off. CMP Assistant Commissioner (Kotwali Zone) Shah Abdur Rouf said: ‘SMS texts about bomb attacks at different places were found on the mobile phones seized from them.’ Rouf said another six Shibir leaders and activists were arrested during a raid, conducted based on the information provided by them, in a mess in the area. Kotwali Police Station Sub-Inspector Kamruzzaman said documents pertaining to Shibir’s organisational activities were seized from the arrestees, according to bdnews24.com.
