Shibir\\\'s half-day hartal on in Natore

A half-day hartal (shutdown), called for Tuesday by Islami Chhatra Shibir, the student front of Jamaat-e-Islami, protesting the attack on a Shibir leader of Rajshahi University (RU) unit, is progressing in Natore, Rajshahi and Chapainawabganj districts. Additional law enforcers were deployed at the key points of Natore town. No picketing was reported till filing of this report at 11:00am. Vehicular movement was thin and no long-route buses were seen to enter or leave the town. Earlier on Monday, Shibir called a half-day hartal in the three northern districts, protesting the attack on Russell Mahmud, secretary of RU Nawab Abdul Latif Hall unit of Shibir and a 4th year student of Finance and Banking Department of the university. Russell Mahmud was allegedly shot by Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) men after chopping off one of his legs on the campus on Monday, according to UNB.
