Shilpa Bank earns Tk 128.7m pre-tax profit

Bangladesh Shilpa Bank (BSB) earned a pre-tax profit of Tk 128.7 million (12.87 crore) during the fiscal 2006-07, reports UNB.
This was disclosed at the 21st annual general meeting of the shareholders of the bank at its head office with Chairman of the Board Mohammad Aminul Islam Bhuiyan in the chair Sunday.
The meeting was informed that the bank recovered Tk 1.06 billion (106.54 crore) which was 106.54 per cent of its target.
The bank sanctioned Tk 1.11 billion (111 crore) for 53 projects, including long-term loan for 38 projects. The bank disbursed Tk 705.4 million (70.54 crore) to 66 projects.
The bank expressed the hope that the newly sanctioned projects would create employment opportunities for 3,000 people.
Currently, BSB repaid about Tk 600 million (60 crore) to Bangladesh Bank and other lending agencies as DSL.
