Shinepukur advance to DPDCL T20 semis eliminating Mohammedan

Gazi Group win rain-hit game against BKSP

Shinepukur Cricket Club advanced to the semifinals of the ongoing Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League (DPDCL) T20 defeating Mohammedan by 22 runs at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in the city on Tuesday, reports UNB.
Shinepukur won the toss and posted a challenging 192 for four. Mohammedan managed to score 170/9 in 20 overs.
Shinepukur also won the first match against Legends of Rupganj. And with back-to-back wins, they have advanced to the semifinals of the tournament as the first team.
Shuvagata Hom was the best batsman for Shinepukur. He struck unbeaten 58 off 18 balls.
Along the way, he reached 50 off 16 deliveries which is now the record of quickest fifty for a Bangladeshi batsman in T20 cricket. He hit four fours and six sixes.
Towhid Hridoy also hit a fifty for Shinepukur. He remained unbeaten at 66 off 41 balls.
He hit four fours and as many as sixes. Afif Hossain and Mohammad Rakib also contributed with the bat hitting 25 and 22 respectively.
Alauddin Babu, Qazi Onik, Nihaduzzaman and Saqlain Sajib took one wicket each for Mohammedan.
Chasing the target, Mohammedan managed 46 in the opening stand of Avishek Mitra and Abdul Mazid. Avishek fell for 19 while Mazid struck 33 off 20 deliveries.
Mohammedan failed to exploit this start as they lost five wickets before crossing 100-run mark. Mohammad Ashraful, former captain of Bangladesh, hit 21 off 20. He showed some glimpse of his old form but failed to record an imperious innings so far.
Irfan Sukkur was the best batsman for Mohammedan. He scored an unbeaten 52 off 29 balls with seven fours and one six.
With this loss, Mohammedan have been eliminated from the race to reach the semi-finals.
Sohrawardi Shuvo, Sujon Hawlader, Hamidul Islam bagged two wickets each for Shinepukur while Delwar Hossain and Afif Hossain took one each.
Meanwhile, Gazi Group Cricketers won their first match of DPDCL T20 against Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protishtan by 27 runs at Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium on Tuesday.
BKSP won the toss and bowled first in the rain-interrupted match which was played in 10 overs each side. Gazi posted 123/4 but BKSP managed to score 96/4.
For Gazi, Rony Talukdar and wicketkeeper-batsman Waliul Karim posted 62 runs in the opening stand. Waliul fell for 25 off 18 balls while Rony posted 41 off 16 deliveries with two fours and four sixes.
Sajjadul Haque hit 20 off eight balls with one four and two sixes. Myshukur Rahman accompanied him with 19 off 11 balls.
