Ship building sector saves forex reserve: Dilip

CHITTAGONG, Apr 19: Industries Minister Dilip Barua said the fledgling ship building industry of the country would not only fetch foreign currency through export but also save the hard earned currency providing world standard ship for local market.
While visiting Chittagong Dry Dock Limited in the port city recently, he also said the government is sincere in unveiling the doors of dry-dock industry.
He disclosed the desire of the government for constructing the docks for building new vessels on public private partnership (PPP) basis to create huge employment facilities.
The industries minister told the audience that with the inception of any new industry, the issue of preserving rights of the workers would get top most priority.
He said many profitable industrial units were sold away in the past at a cheap rate. The previous governments could not frame any specific guideline on industries also.
Referring to the commitment of the Prime Minister of providing job to each family, the industries minister said the government is proceeding with the very target.
