Shipyard worker killed in generator explosion

A worker was killed after a fire broke out in a shipyard following a generator explosion in Dakhshin Shitolpur area of Sitakundo upazila of Chittagong on Tuesday morning.
The deceased was identified as Mohammad Ilias, 30, hailing from Bagherpara upazila in Jessore district, a helper of NK Shipyard.
Mohammad Saifullah, sub-inspector of Sitakundo Police Station, said Ilias received serious burn injuries as the fire broke out in the N K Shipyard following the explosion of a generator.
On information two fire fighting units from Kumira Fire Station rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control after two hours of frantic efforts, said Abdullah Harun, the station officer.
Later, the injured was rushed to Chittagong Medical College Hospital where doctor declared him dead.
