Shivering cold, dense fog hamper fish, poultry, agri production in N-region

RAJSHAHI, Dec 12 (BSS): The unprecedented dense fog coupled with shivering clod sweeping over the country's northwestern region for the last couple of days has started making an adverse impact on the agricultural and livestock production.
Besides, the cold coupled with dense fog has been hampering the normal life and vehicular movement in the region.
The sun remained blanketed by cloud and fog until late morning and blowing of chilly wind from the north and northwestern directions caused biting cold increasing cold related diseases among the people especially the elders and children in the region.
Farming activities and production of fish, poultry birds and eggs, goat and various agricultural products including vegetables, betel leaves, potato, tomato and green chilly have been facing an odd situation due to the uneasy climatic condition, said the concerned sources.
As a consequence of the production decline and hazardous farming, retail prices of all seasonal vegetables have become more than double in the markets, said the retailers at Shaheb Bazar of Rajshahi city.

Out of the six monitoring points in the northern region, the minimum temperature marked rises at four points, remained unchanged at one point and marked little fall at another during the past 24 hours till this morning, Met Office sources said.
