Shocking abduction in broad daylight

Saturday, 19 April 2014

Peace-loving citizens are shocked to know about the abduction of the husband of Syeda Rizwana Hasan, chief executive of the Bangladesh Environmental Lawyers Association (Bela). She was awarded Goldman Environmental Prize in 2009 and prestigious Ramon Magsaysay Award. Her tireless work has garnered praise from every quarter at home and abroad. She has been termed a "Hero of Environment" by the American magazine Time.
The victim, Abu Bakar Siddique was coming to Dhaka by his car. He was abducted by some armed goons in broad daylight. The motive is not yet clear to anyone but a deep-rooted conspiracy seems to be working behind this audacious crime. Such daring crime dents the faith of common people in the law enforcing agency. Our law enforcing agency has shown its promptness and alacrity on many occasions. They have solved many critical cases swiftly. The Home Ministry should initiate a massive hunt for the criminals.
