Shoeb Chowdhury gets bail in two cases after surrendering

A Dhaka Court on Wednesday granted bail to Shoeb Chowdhury, chairman of the editorial board of The Asian Age, in two cases filed by Exim Bank and NASSA Group after he had surrendered in the court.
Judge of the Metropolitan Magistrate Court of Dhaka, Atiqul Islam, passed the order after holding hearing his bail petitions.
Earlier on Tuesday the same court issued an arrest warrant against Shoeb Chowdhury in two cases.
Advocate Kalyan Kumar Saha and advocate Prokash Ranjan Biswas appeared in the court on behalf of Shoeb Chowdhury.
The two defamation cases was filed on charges of publishing a false, baseless and fabricated news on October 24, 2019, in The Asian Age against the chairman of Exim Bank and NASSA Group Md Nazrul Islam Mazumder.
Mizanur Rahman Chowdhury, Senior Assistant Vice President of the Bank filed the case on behalf of Exim Bank and another case was filed by Lt Colonel (Retd) Sirajul Islam Bir Pratik (Bar) on behalf of NASSA Group.
