Shooting, weightlifting teams for 11th SA Games announced

Bangladesh Olympic Association (BOA) Sunday officially announced the 25-member shooting and 11-member weightlifting teams for the 11th SA Games at a function in the city Sunday, reports BSS.
General Secretary of BSF (Bangladesh Shooting Federation) Isteaque Ahmed Bablu played safe with media as he decided to take pre-cautionary measure not revealing the aspirations and policy of the shooting team, he said, " We are hopeful of winning gold medals in different events but at the moment we are not in a position to reveal our scores, I think it creates an added pressure upon the shooters, as 18 of our shooters are relatively new in the international arena.
Bangladesh won just two silvers in the last edition of the games in Colombo and Bablu hoped the shooters would try their best to forget about their miserable performance in the last Games.
He added that women's 10 M air rifle is an event where there is a prospect for the coveted gold for Bangladesh He also hoped Asif Hossain Khan the ace shooter will perform to his true ability to bring laurels for the country.'

The weightlifting team comprised of eight lifters and three officials.
Convener of the SA Games Media Committee Asaduzzaman Noor, Chef de Mission of Bangladesh contingent Mizanur Rahman Manu, general manager Bangladesh contingent Mahfuza Akter Kiron, BOA CEO Col. (Rtd) M. Waliullah were present on the occasion.
The general secretary of Bangladesh Weightlifting Federation Wing Commander (Rtd) Mohiuddin Ahmed expressed firm determination and promise of a better showing in the coming SA Games.
Mohiuddin said, "Our lifters have improved a lot and they are now almost the standards of Indian and Pakistani lifters. We hope we will not disappoint the partisan crowd and hope to perform better than the previous edition of Colombo where we won just one-silver and five bronzes, said the general secretary of the federation.
The federation officials pinned hope around experienced campaigner Akramul Huq and Hamidul Islam who have shown improvement in the year long training. Akramul Huq has been lifting 105 and 128 Kg's in the snatch and clean jerk.
His previous best was 100 and 113 Kg's. Hamidul has touched the 145 Kg's in the snatch and 152 Kg's in clean and jerk going past his previous best of 117 and 120.
