Shopkeeper killed in city

A shopkeeper was killed allegedly by one of his colleagues at Lalbagh while police recovered bullet-hit body of an unidentified man at Mohammadpur in the city Friday indicating again fast deterioration of the city's law and order situation in recent times.
Police said Ruhul Amin (18), a shopkeeper of Amin Metal at Lalbagh Lane area, went to sleep with two of his co-workers Sujan and Hridoy inside the shop after finishing work at about 1:30am, but Ruhul was found dead at dawn. The body was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) morgue for autopsy.
Police picked up Hridoy for interrogation in this connection. Quoting Hridoy, a police officer of the Lalbagh Police Station told the FE that he woke up at one stage of sleep hearing a groaning-like sound and saw that Sujan was trying to kill Ruhul by pressing a pillow over his mouth.
Seeing the scene, Hridoy got out of the shop hurriedly to save his life. When returned, he found the body of Ruhul lying on the floor inside the shop but did not find Sujan.
Police is conducting drives at various parts of the city to arrest Sujan, the police officer said.
Meanwhile, police recovered bullet-hit body of an unidentified man in front of a house at Basila road of Mohammadpur in the city at about 8:30am.
The body, aged about 35, was wearing a shirt and a lungi.
The body was sent to the DMCH morgue for autopsy.
