Short-course certificate awarding ceremony at East West University

The certificate awarding ceremony for the participants in a short course on "Corporate Valuation, Governance and Control" at East West University was held in the University auditorium on 12 June. The aim of the course was to enhance the capability and confidence of the mid level and senior level corporate professionals specially in making financial decisions.
Mr. Jalaluddin Ahmed, President, Board of Directors of EWU, graced the occasion as the chief guest while Professor Tanvir Ahmed Chowdhury, Chairman, BBA department chaired the session. Praising the current status of East West University as the leading private university in Bangladesh, the chief guest told the students that the University is committed to provide updated knowledge to the students to build knowledge based society. This short course is a part of such commitment, and this course, he added, would be beneficial in ensuring effective corporate governance in our country, and to facilitate in building a sustainable economy. He also thanked the resource person of the course, Dr.Kabir Hassan, Professor of Finance in the University of New Orleans, USA. This two week course was jointly organized by EWU and Prime Bank.
The guest speaker Mr. Tabarak Hosaain Bhuiyan, Chief of HRD, Prime Bank also pointed out the importance of such short course which is essential to build a link between a university and corporate groups. He emphasized on building a triangular relationship among University, Corporations and Research organizations to create active and need based human resources for the corporations.
In his valuable speech, Professor Nazrul Islam, Coordinator of MBA at EWU told the participants that they learnt here on how to analyse and evaluate financial statements, how to examine the reason why effective corporate governance is needed, and how corporation can be efficiently and effectively controlled and monitored.
Dr.Kabir Hassan, the resource person of the course, Mr. Barun Kanti Saha, Head of Prime Bank, Mohakhali Branch, and Professor Tanvir Ahmed Chowdhury, BBA Chairperson also spoke on this occasion.
