Should we not be worried?

HIGH time for us to wake up and be concerned, we are at the lowest rung of our moral and ethical degradation. We have turned into a chaotic and one of the most undisciplined nations anywhere in the world. Our family values of have totally collapsed.
We have no regards for each other. The growing tendency of the younger generation not to respect or care for their elders has reached an alarming stage with the exception of a few. Our children are no longer ready to look after their parents more so when they happen to be old and sick.
The spirit of sacrifice no longer exists. Greed and lust have dulled our senses and sensitivity.
Bashing and tormenting the weak and the unfortunate for no rhyme or reason have become a way of our lives for many belonging to the comparatively well-to-do and fortunate section of the population.
It is lies and deception all the way through. The politicians are telling lies, the traders are cheating and bluffing customers every step of the way. The entire transportation services, private or public, thrive on cheating the public by blackmailing them into paying exorbitant fares from commuters for going from one location to another. They not only charge exorbitant fares but also misbehave with their customers in all conceivable ways.
We have lost our self-respect, dignity and honor. Each one of us is detached from one another. We are devoured by our divisions. Contrary to popular belief the element of class consciousness has become ever more acute. The rich have very little concern for the poor and the poor for the well-to-do or the affluent and vice versa. The rickshaw puller thinks he is the only one who has exclusive rights on the roads; so does the car owners and the drivers.
Senseless anger has gripped the entire society both amongst men and women, rich or poor. Today the entire society is in the grip of rogues and ruffians; it is tailored to serve the evil against the good and the deserving. It is full of political pollution: family politics, village politics, student politics including politics of the literate and the illiterate. None of the instruments of governance is free from political pollution. They are routinely engaged in acts that ultimately lead to miseries and misfortune for the people at large. We are simply hostage at the hands of a handful of mighty and the powerful both within and outside the establishment.
They say that we have made some progress in the development of our human resources. Have we really? People may not be dying of hunger; the poor and the disadvantaged may have better access to clothing and bare necessities of life and living but then is that all that is to life? We may have made some progress in terms of accessing to some kind of material acquisition but then there has been little or no progress in the qualitative aspects of our lives in general, whether of the rich, the poor or people with moderate incomes. Our style is reflective of our poor mentality and mindset.
If we are to live a life of dignity and make our lives meaningful and worthwhile, it is high time we wake up to the realization that we need to be proactive with the efforts of the administration. After all God helps those who help themselves. If we play our roles honestly and diligently our rulers too will have no other alternative but to mend their ways. If we stand united and committed, chances are we shall be able to better our lives in all conceivable ways. We have, too, often been deceived by our politicians and our political management Gurus. Can we not set examples for our administration by being disciplined on the roads? If we are united there is no reason as to why we should not be able to chase the devils out of the society no matter how powerful they may be. Our forefathers did it quite effectively and we should be able too.
Yet another Eid is knocking at the door. The common man and those of the middle class and below do they really have any cause to be particularly elated? I doubt it. On the contrary, they are worried as to from where the additional resources will be forthcoming that is needed to bring back smiles on the faces of their near and dear once on this special day of the year.
It is high time that we embark on a crusade to make improvements on our morals and ethical content both as individuals and the nation as a whole, if we fail to do so, trust me; our future is not only bleak but uncertain. Remember the famous saying, "When money is lost, nothing is lost, when health is lost something is lost, when character is lost everything is lost". Believe me we are well nigh loosing everything.
