Tuesday, 24 March 2015

The Election Commission (EC) has so far issued show-cause notices on 12 councillor aspirants of the election to Dhaka South City Corporation for not removing their electioneering posters within the deadline that expired on Friday midnight, reports UNB.
"We've issued show-cause notices on the councillor-aspirants for violating the election code of conduct as they didn't remove their posters within the deadline," returning officer Mihir Sarwar Morshed told reporters at his Segunbagicha office on Monday.
However, no show-cause notice was issued on any aspiring candidates of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) and Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) elections for code violation.
Returning officers of DNCC Shah Alam and Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) Abdul Baten told the news agency that they have not issued any show-cause notice on any aspiring candidates until date for violating the election code of conduct.
The deadline for removing all the electoral campaign materials, including billboards, banners, posters and graffiti expired on Friday midnight.
On March 18, Chief Election Commissioner Kazi Rakibuddin Ahmad announced the election schedules for the three city corporations fixing voting on April 28.
