Shutdown if move to hike power, gas prices not abandoned

Saturday, 29 November 2014

The Bangladesher Samajtantrik Dal (BSD) issued a threat to the government that it will call a hartal unless the step taken by the govt to hike the prices of power and gas is not scrapped. ‘We will call a hartal (shutdown) if the prices of power and gas are hiked,’ said General Secretary of the BSD Khalequzzaman while addressing a rally in Narayanganj. He observed that the government’s recent move to raise the prices of power and gas is illogical and aimed at amassing wealth by cutting the people’s pockets. The rally was organised at Chashara Intersection of the city, marking the 34th founding anniversary of the BSD, according to a news agency.
