SI arrested for taking bribe

The Anti-corruption Commi-ssion (ACC) arrested Cantonment thana police sub-inspector (SI) Moinul Ahsan around midnight in Tejgaon industrial area, as he was caught red-handed while taking bribe money from an accused in a robbery case, said police, reports bdnews24.com.
Tajgaon police sub-inspector Zafar Iqbal told the news agency that the accused was produced in court Friday.
The Cantonment police officer was arrested from the first floor of a restaurant 'Banbhojan' in East Nakahal para, said Zafar.
"ACC officials arrested Moinul as he was taking Tk 5,000 bribe money from Mozammel Haque, an accused in a robbery case."
"Moinul was the investigation officer (IO) of the robbery case. He took the money from Mozammel Haque assuring him that his name would be excluded from the charge sheet of the robbery case," said Zafar.
ACC Assistant Director Harun-ur Rashid filed a case against Moinul, Zafar added.
