The Executive Committee of National Economic Council (ECNEC) approved Tuesday a power generation project involving Tk 20.77 billion (2,077 crore) to be implemented at Siddhirganj in a bid to add 300 megawatt (mw) electricity to the national grid from early 2012.
Emerging from the meeting, Planning Minister AK Khandaker told journalists that the ECNEC approved the gas turbine peaking power plant project to be implemented at Siddhirganj.
The state-owned Electricity Generation Company of Bangladesh (EGCB) will start construction of the plant early next year, Power Division officials said.
